Xmas Pops!

Christmas Tree Cake Pops!

I had seen these on the Bakerella website and Mr G had recently bought me the Cake Pops book!

They were surprisingly easy!
I made Oreo Truffles and then shaped them into cone like shapes, and then dipped them into green candy melts.

I used a toothpick to get the pine effect and then sprinkled on some coloured mini choc chips to look like xmas tree lights!

Mr. Potato Head Cake Pops

I hadn't made cake pops for quite a while and after making some red velvet cupcakes, I decided to make some red velvet cake balls. I had seen these Mr Potato Head pops on the Bakerella website.
Hats off to Bakerella big time. I do not know how she gets her cake pops to look so smooth.
Making the pops themselves is not so hard.
You start off by crumbling any cake that you have made.

Add a good dose of cream cheese frosting.

Mix well until fully combined and shape into balls.
I used some peanut butter flavoured candy melts as it was the perfect colour.

You will also need an assortment of sprinkles and mini chocolate buttons....

And voila!
Mr. Potato Head!
I was quite pleased with how they turned out but I wish I could get the coating to go on a lot more smoothly.
Must keep practising!

Ice Cream Pops!

I love Oreos. A lot.
Even more though, I love oreo truffles.

They have just two ingredients. Oreos and full fat cream cheese.
Mmmm, cream cheese.

You blitz the oreos until they resemble fine breadcrumbs and then mix them in with the cream cheese until the mixture is completely combined. At this point, it is best to leave the mixture in the fridge for a few hours or overnight to allow it to firm up.

Then roll out the mixture into walnut sized balls. Leave in the fridge for a couple of hours to firm up again.

Pop one of the balls onto an ice cream cone that has been cut down in size.

Have you ever used candy melts? I love them. They are basically a vanilla flavoured candy coating that comes in a variety of colours. You melt them down as you would chocolate and can then use them to cover anything or even put them in moulds to create shapes.

Dip the balls in the melted mixture.

YUM YUM YUM YUM

Top with sprinkles to create an ice cream effect.

I had seen these treats on the Bakerella website and had been waiting for an opportunity to make some. I decided to make them as party favours so put them in little cellophane bags using matching twist ties.

I hope the guests like them!!
